Meet Dr. Dean

Dr. Rachel Dean is a board certified dermatologist. She graduated magna cum laude from Louisiana State University (in her native Shreveport) with a BS in Biological Sciences. In 2009, Dr. Dean received her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. There she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and received the Lewis Gottlieb Scholar Award for demonstrating scholarship and devotion. She completed a one-year internship in Internal Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center before three years of dermatology training at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. After completing her residency training, Dr. Dean practiced for four years at a private dermatology clinic in Alexandria, Louisiana before creating Dean Derm.

Dr. Dean takes several approaches to staying current in the field of medical dermatology. She is an avid reader of dermatology literature and an active participant in a number of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Louisiana Dermatologic Society, the National Psoriasis Foundation and Women in Dermatology.

Dr. Dean enjoys practicing all areas of dermatology, including complex medical dermatology (including psoriasis and connective tissue disease), skin cancer detection and prevention, and cosmetic procedures, which help patients maintain natural hallmarks of youth. She treats patients of all ages.

Dr. Rachel Dean, her husband, Jason Dean, and their four children reside in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
